THE PIONEER BEHIND KIDLET®

Meet Our Expert

Dr. Earl Bergersen, our founder and Chief Clinical Officer, revolutionized orthodontics in 1967 when he created the first braceless system for straightening teeth. As a board-certified orthodontist and professor at Northwestern University for 25 years, Dr. Bergersen discovered that by guiding teeth into their natural positions early in childhood, both dental alignment and breathing issues could be addressed at the same time.

What began as HealthyStart®, a breakthrough in children’s dental and airway health, has now expanded into the Kidlet Care System. Built on the same foundation of innovation and research, Kidlet is making this care more accessible than ever before by bringing tele-dentistry directly to families. Together, we’ve already helped over 5 million children worldwide achieve straighter teeth and better breathing—all while they sleep.

“We believe every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential through better breathing, better sleep, and a confident smile. Our mission is to make effective, comfortable, and affordable treatment accessible to families everywhere.”

  • As the creator of the first braceless orthodontics and a pioneer in breathing and airway health, Dr. Earl Bergersen, DDS, MSD has dedicated more than 50 years to researching child growth and development. His groundbreaking work began in 1967 when he founded Ortho-Tain®, the company behind Kidlet®, whose patented appliances have successfully treated more than 5 million patients globally. After receiving his dental degrees at Northwestern University, Dr. Bergersen went on to teach there for 25 years, sharing his expertise with the next generation of dental professionals. His influence extends worldwide through his extensive lectures and research, and today, most invisible aligners and removable braces draw from his research and FDA clearances. This wealth of experience and innovation is now accessible to families through the Kidlet® system, offering children the best possible start for their oral development and overall health.
